Aero India in Bangalore from 11 Feb

NEW DELHI, Feb. 2: The five-day Aero India 2009, the seventh edition of the annual show, will begin in Bangalore from 11 February amidst tight security arrangements in the backdrop of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.

“This time there would be 140 CCTVs with RFIDs in invitation cards. With about 1.5 lakh visitors expected to attend the show spread over an area of 44,000 sq metres, we have to ensure foolproof security arrangements,” the secretary of defence production, Mr Pradeep Kumar, told reporters here. Aero India, Asia’s premier air show, will be inaugurated by the defence minister Mr A K Antony, at the Air Force Station, Yelahanka. Delegations from 42 countries are participating in the show, including a 10-member team from China which is taking part for the first time, Mr Kumar said.

The show, organised by the defence ministry and managed by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), aims at bringing under one roof exhibitors from all around the globe to showcase the best in aviation. Aero India includes both flight and static displays of a wide range of civil and military aircraft from leading manufacturers, vendors and suppliers.
